Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SERVICES DOES RENAE BY THE DAY OFFER?

Renae By The Day offers three consumer-facing service lanes: mobile and Remote Online Notary services; real estate consultations, resources, guidance, and representation through Downtown Realty; and mortgage consultation, prequalification guidance, and loan origination through Homesite Mortgage, LLC, NMLS #136037.

WHERE ARE NOTARY SERVICES AVAILABLE?

Mobile appointments are available throughout Metro Detroit at a mutually agreed location, including a home, office, hospital, nursing facility, or public meeting place. Remote Online Notarization may be available anywhere in Michigan when the document and signer meet platform and legal requirements.

WHAT IDENTIFICATION IS ACCEPTABLE FOR NOTARIZATION?

Michigan generally requires satisfactory evidence of identity, such as a current federal- or state-issued license, identification card, or other government record containing both a photograph and signature. Remote notarization also uses the approved platform's identity-proofing and credential-analysis process. Ask before your appointment if you are unsure whether your identification qualifies.

CAN EVERY DOCUMENT BE NOTARIZED?

No. The document must be complete, the requested notarial act must be permitted, and the signer must be properly identified and acting willingly. Certified copies of many government or court records must be obtained from the issuing agency. Please describe your document when requesting service so eligibility can be confirmed.

DOES NOTARIZATION MAKE A DOCUMENT LEGAL?

No. Notarization verifies identity, willingness, and the performance of a specific notarial act; it does not validate the document's contents or provide legal advice. A Michigan Notary Public cannot select legal forms, draft documents, explain legal rights, or advise you about a transaction. Consult a qualified attorney when legal guidance is needed.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Use Book Online or call or text 313.288.2590. Appointments are scheduled in advance, and same-day requests are considered when availability allows; two hours' notice is preferred. If you are unsure whether you need notary, real estate, or mortgage help, just explain your situation and we will identify the appropriate next step.
